I recently met Sally Wainwright at a Q&A at Huddersfield University. She is a real hero of mine. I first got acquainted with her work watching At Home With the Braithwaites. Then more recently, Happy Valley, which is just mind-blowing TV. She writes strong female characters, which I love, and actually states that she finds women "simply more interesting to write"!
What I personally love about Sally the person is that, despite her award-winning track record and rock-star status, she is down-to-earth, modest and a little bit shy (she says this herself). What you see is what you get with Sally Wainwright. There is no image or 'self-branding'.
Sally is also a Patron of Script Yorkshire.
