25th Anniversary

28th June 2014

Theatre Royal Wakefield

I've been a member of Script Yorkshire for a number of years now.  I'm on the Board and help to run the Organisation.

I also do membership and Twitter.  We're all writers and all volunteers on the Board.  We do a lot with very little.  Our members range from creative writing graduates through to working professionals across the industry - in TV, Radio, Theatre & Film.  But it doesn't matter what level writers are at, as long as they're serious about scriptwriting.  We offer workshops, a monthly Newscript, a members' forum, and regular branch meetings in Leeds, York, Hull, Sheffield and Bradford.

There's an opportunity for script development and getting work on in front of an audience.  As well as Theatre Royal Wakefield, we have strong links with West Yorkshire Playhouse, York Theatre Royal, The Carriageworks, New Bradford Playhouse, Sheffield Theatres and Hull Truck.

It's brilliant to feel part of such a strong regional writing community and you realise just how much talent there is in Yorkshire.

We have a very impressive list of patrons too:

Alan Ayckbourn

Alan Bennett

Peter Harness

Jude Kelly

David Nobbs

Sally Wainwright

In 2014, Script Yorkshire turned 25!

And this was how we celebrated:

Judges, organisers, writers & Board members

The wonderful David Nobbs cuts the cake, along with YA author Helen Brandom & competition winner Jacqueline Everett
